Board meeting at Coexis takes place in Kibo Hut, 15,420 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro
Terry Williams appointed Chairman during charity walk which raised over £120,000 for Sense International
London November 3rd 2004 — Coexis Limited, providers of process-oriented and rules-based software across the whole spectrum of commercial banking, chose what must be one of the strangest locations for its last Board meeting – the final staging hut, 15,420 feet up Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Three directors – Terry Williams, Hank Uberoi and Sunil Shah – were participating in a sponsored Mount Kilimanjaro trek to raise money for deafblind charity Sense International, personally organised by Sunil Shah of Coexis, and were able to participate in the board meeting as usual.
As a result Barty Smith has stepped down as chairman to become a non-executive director, with Terry Williams relinquishing his role as chief executive officer to become chairman as the company establishes a presence in the USA and looks to expand into the Far East. Sunil Shah, formerly chief operating officer was appointed chief executive officer. Other board members remain the same.
Speaking about the unique location Sunil said: “With Terry, Hank and myself participating in the trek, it seemed sensible to organise the meeting on Kilimanjaro. It was a very tough trek but I’m delighted to announce that we exceeded our goal of raising £100,000 for Sense International.”
